From the onset, allow me to say thank-you for the wonderful birthday wishes last week. From the presentation by our children, the cutest little cards, the balloons, the Bengals long sleeve t-shirt, to the gift cards and facebook post, it made me so happy. So happy, in fact, I think I’ll do it again . . . next year. Thank you so much!
All of the kind words, cards, and gifts got me thinking about how a kind work can change the atmosphere. No matter what is going on a kind word, a genuine gesture of kindness can brighten the day. The Proverbs have a way of making a grand statement. Take Proverbs 16:25, “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body: . . . or Proverbs 15:23, “A fitly spoken word is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.” Proverbs 15:4, “gentle tongue is a tree of life.”
Proverbs also gives us a warning; “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Last Sunday so many kind words were said to me. Those words filled up my spirit. As I reflected Sunday afternoon I mused about some of those Proverbs and I said to myself, “self, you need to speak kind words” and not just when it’s someone’s birthday. But, a birthday is a grand occasion to be kind and speak gracious words!
Happy Birthday Everyone,
